Installed on 65 lamp posts in Lower Manhattan during the winter of 2021-22, this exhibition explored the notion of resiliency. The art was selected through a public-design competition organized in collaboration with the Alliance for Downtown New York <\/strong><\/a><\/span>and brought in over 150 applicants.\u00a0<\/p>

The two exhibiting artists – Frances Smith<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and Michelle Weinberg<\/span><\/strong><\/a> – were chosen by a panel which included Gary Carrion-Murayari<\/a>, Curator, New Museum; Lili Chopra<\/a>, Executive Director, Artistic Programs, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; and Claire Gilman<\/a>, Curator, Drawing Center.\u00a0<\/p>

Smith\u2019s artworks, titled \u201cDances of New York City,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> featured a collection of 10 illustrations that celebrated cultural diversity through the portrayal of various dance forms including Soca and Swing. Weinberg\u2019s \u201cGeo Grid\u201d<\/strong><\/em> presented patterned art with upward swirling movements visualized through vivid colors and geometric and plant forms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
